The OAI Inc. Board of Directors is involved in all of OAI’s major financial decisions and is a useful source of knowledge and experience of non-profit management, procurement, and success. OAI’s Directors have backgrounds in a variety of industries such as banking, healthcare, HR, law, and environmental health & safety.
The following is a brief introduction to each board member.
Cheryl Valdez Barsanti – Board ChairCheryl Valdez Barsanti is Sales Director, Major Accounts, with the Bank Administration Institute (BAI). She is devoted exclusively to improving the performance of financial services companies through strategic research and information, education, and training.
Ms. Barsanti has also served BAI as director of human resources and public relations officer. She is a graduate of the management program from Mundelein College, Chicago.
Pedro Martinez, CPA - Treasurer
Pedro Martinez came to OAI as the Controller of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, the largest private network of social service organizations that works to support families, reduce poverty, and build Chicago communities. He was responsible for directing financial and related reporting systems for all Catholic Charities affiliates and operating divisions, including a home health care entity, numerous residential properties, thirty daycare centers, and a food distribution company.
In 2003 Mr. Martinez was named the budget director for the Chicago Public Schools district, and in 2009 accepted the position of Deputy Superintendent of the Washoe County School District in Reno, NV.
William H. Thornton – Board Member
Mr. Thornton has over 20 years experience in executive business and Human
Resource management, with specific expertise in healthcare and service
industries.
He is currently a senior associate at Resources Connection, a
full-service human resource consulting firm specializing in employment,
employee relations, labor relations, compensation, financial analysis and
cost reductions.
Layton Olson – Board Member
Layton Olson is an attorney in the law firm of Howe & Hutton in Chicago which
specializes in legal representation of nonprofit organizations, including
charities, trade and professional organizations, foundations, and related
entities.
He focuses on representation of charitable groups as well as
businesses and consulting firms working with charities.
Glenn Paulson – Board Member
Currently President of Paulson and Cooper, Inc, a consulting firm based in Jackson Hole, WY, Dr. Paulson is an adjunct faculty member at City College of New York, the State University of New York, the College of the Atlantic, Southampton College, and the New School for Social Research; Research Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology; and is currently Adjunct Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Tina Marie Hauri – Board Member
Tina Marie Hauri, Director of Information Security for Discover Financial Services, has over 20 years of experience in Information Security leadership, technology deployment, management, and consulting.
Her leadership, communications, mentoring and team building skills give her the ability to lead complex, leading edge efforts across international communities.
